Mr. Miller discussed the down town traf-Lic system with the Board and also the new type of traffic signal proposed for the down town area. CuKETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton;. was present and matters pertain- ing to his department were discussed. All members were present. Minutes of the meeting held on March 20 were read and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $8,316.06 were approved and ordered paid. Nelson 20.00 15.00 'Royal Typewriter Company' 15.00 4.64 `Studebaker Corpl 11.51 84.58 `Business Systems 1.90 STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Anthony Zmudz'inski, Street Commissioner, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. • The Board authorized the purchase of four cinder spreaders from Korte Brothers, of Fort 'Sayne, their bid being the lowest, and in the opinion of -the Board the best I bid submitted. ENGINEERING DEPARTIVIENT: A contractors bond in the amount of r1,000.00 was approved for Thomas L. Hickey. Thi.z was ordered filed. A petition for the elimination of a pond between ,11ashington and Marshall Streets and 35th and 36th Streets,carrying 21 signatures was submitted by John McCarthy. This was referred to the Engineering Department for investigation and report. A`report on the condition of the Meade StreetCrossing and New York Central Rail- road crossing was submitted to the Board by Mr. Miller, and was referred co the City Engineer for discussion with Railroad Officials.
