TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters pertain
ing to his department were discussed.
Mr. Miller was granted permission to be in Indianapolis, March 8-9-1-11 to work
on the down town traffic system with the :State Traffic Engineer.
CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Lenzczynski,"Sexton, presented his report for the
month of .February, 1944.

MEETING - MARCH 13, 1944
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Ir,Ionday, March, 13,
1944 at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read
and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $7,837.05 were approved and ordered
paid. Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $ 8,760.69 were approved
and ordered paid:

STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Anthony 3hudzinski,, Street Commissioner, was present and matters
pertaining to his department were discussed.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: The Board approved
p
a permanent easement on a sewer through
the Studebaker Defense Plant Corporation
and the Studebaker Property.
The Board has been advised that the
Railroads involved in the Meade and
Arnold
Street Crossings have filed new applications
with the War Production Board
for gates
and flashers at those crossings. A letter
was drafted to the City Council
advising
them of the fact.
The transaction having been completed in
the sale of the city owned gravel
pit to the
South Bend Sand & Gravel Corporation, the
deed and abstract having been delivered
to
the South Bend Sand & Gravel Corporation,
the two checks totaling $4,000,00
from said
h South Bend Sand & Gravel Corporation were
submitted to the City Controller.

This being the date set, hearing was

had on the final assessment roll of improvement
•
resolution No. known as the Duey Street Sewer, for a local sewer on Duey Street
South
from Bend Avenue, north to the north
line of Hartman and Miller's Addition
and
Hartman and Woodworth Addition.

In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written re-
monstrances were filed with the Clark of the Board, the Clerk gave proof that the
assessment roll was published in two newspapers, and the Board, being fully advised in
the premises, finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been benefited in
the amounts whown on said assessment -roll. The Board, therefore, decides to take final.
action on said assessment roll and declares same in all things ratified and confirmed
and approved without modification and the proceedin'-s closed. The Board now orders said
assessment roll delivered to the Department of Finance.
