A regular meeting of the Board
of Public
Works was held on Monday, February 7, 1944
at 9:00 A.M. All members were present.

STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and
matters pertaining to his department were discussed.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment
roll showing the award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of
vacation resolution No. 2526, the vacation of the Alley North of Madison Street from the
East line of the first alley East of Michigan Street to the West side of the vacated
portion of North St. Joseph Street.
In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written re-
monstrances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notice
and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore finds that the several lots
and parcels of land have been benefitted and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll.
The Board, therefore, decides to take action on said assessment roll, and declares
same in all t hings ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the pro-
ceedings closed and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments
from the various property owners so benefitted, and all proceedings had with reference
to said alley vacation are hereby sustained.
This being the date set for receiving and opening bids for the repair of the
Jefferson Street Bridge, the time being set for 10:00 A.M. on February 7, 1944, and it
now being 10:15 A.M., the following bids were opened and read by Mr. Williams, as Chai
man of the Board of Public :forks:

These bids were referred to the Engineering Department to be tabulated and reviewed,
and the award will be made at the next regular meeting of the Board of Public Works.
TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, presented copies of letters
sent out by his department relative to the installation of a traffic signal at the
intersection of Michigan, Garst and Keasey Streets, one to the chief petitioner and one
to the District Engineer of the State Highway Commission.
CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszezynski, Sexton, was,�resent-and matters pertain-
ing to his department were discussed. `
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourne
at 10:30 A.M. �
