BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, March 22, 1943
at 9:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved. Claims of the following suppliers, in the amount of $2761.86 were approved
and ordered paid.

STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Tony 7.mudzinski, Street Commissioner was present and matters
pertaining to his department were discussed.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: The following letter was received from Chicago Securities Corp.
135 South LaSalle Street, Chicago, Illinois:
"At the request of Mrs. Fred Addington of 1853 Randolph Street,
we are authorizing -vou herewith'to fill in lots 20 and 24 of
Roseland Park Addition.
We understand that you are filling in lots in this locality
and this permission is granted with the understanding that there
will be no expenses incurred by us.
Mr. Clyde Williams, City Civil Engineer investigated and found these lots to be owned
by the Chicago Securities Corp. and has authorized the Street Department to use these
lots as a dump until such time as the low spots are filled in.
This being the date set for the final hearing on the assessment roll on Resolution
#2516-for sidewalk, curb and oil bound gravel roadway on Medow Lane, hearing was held.
In the above assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance
were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same
were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several lots and parcels
of land have been benefitted and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The Board,
therefore, decides to take action on said assessment roll, and declares same in all
things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceedings closed.

LEGAL DEPARTMENT: Mr. Joseph Roper, Assistant City Attorney has been authorized to
settle the claim of Niedbalski vs The Uity of South Bend, for personal injuries allegedl
suffered by her in September 1939 when she fell on the west sidewalk of Grant Street in
iSouth Bend, Indiana, for not to exceed A1,200.00
Upon motion duly made and seconded, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED
j by the Board of Public Norks of the City of South Bend, State of Indiana, that it is
desirable and deemed necessary to condemn for a -public use, the property which lies
immediately south of the present South Bend City Hall, which property proposed to,be,
condemned is more specifically described as follows:
j All of Lot No. Eight q8) of the Original Plat of the City of South Bend,
j except the north Twenty-two (22) feet thereof, and the buildings and
f structures located thereon, St. Joseph County, Indiana.
The Board hereby fixes the 12th day of April, 1943 at ten (10:00) o'clock in the
morning, as the time in which the Board will receive or hear remonstrances from persons
�jinterested in or affected by such proceedings.
