A regular meeting of
the Board of Public Works was held on Monday,
August 31, 1942"

were present, Mr. Nathan Levy being absent.

STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Tony Zmudzinski was present and matters pertaining to his depart-
ment were discussed.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Excavation bonds, in the amount of $1000.00 were received for
Noah Malott and Niezgodski Bros. These bonds were approved and ordered filed.
Contractor's bond, in the amount of $1000.00 was received for John Von Bergen.
This bond was approved and ordered filed.
ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. ffin. Qualls, Superintendent was present and matters pertaining
to his department were discussed.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned t
10:30 A. M.
SPECIAL MEETING -- SEPTE11BER 4, 1942
• A special meeting of the Board of udorks and Safety was held on Friday, September
4, 1942. All members were present. The meeting was held for the purpose of receiving
;!bids and awarding a contract for the repairing of the west abutmment of the Sample
,,Street bridge.
Bids were received from Thomas L. Hickey, Ralph Sollitt and C. A. Jordan Co.
The C. A. Jordan Co., having submitted the lowest and best bid, in the opinion of
the Board, was tentatively awarded the contract, subject to ratification of the Common
Council. The proposal is as follows:
i "We propose to shore the west end of the bridge holding it securely and
remove the entire abutment to the present river level and relay the
• stone using only the sound undamaged stone and then replacing the top
stone course with a reinforced concrete pad. 'ae also plan to extend
the present storm sewer between the face of the abutment and replace
any sidewalk, pavement, railings and so forth that are required to
be removed for the execution of this work, also install three weep
holes through the abutment with a gravel drain bed."
There being -no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at
10:30 A. M.
