Voorde, 13.~~ P~~. ~ coo-o y Attached you will fmd a petition to vacate a portion Kalorama Street west of Hill Street, the related Ordinance, envelops addressed and stamped for certified mail to all property owners within 150 feet of the right-of--way to be vacated, a check for the $150.00 filing fee, and the radius map provided by the City Engineer's Office. The proposed street vacation will allow for an inf~ll housing project on Hill Street, which is being carried out by the Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization Organization in partnership with the Madison Center. These entities own several lots to the north and south of the proposed vacation, which will be replated to allow for single-family home construction. As planned, this project will make ten to fifteen developable lots available to builders and three to four of the new homes to be built will be reserved for low to moderate income households. This vacation will directly enable two additional building sites, increase property tax receipts to the City through housing development, and lessen the burden on the City to maintain a portion of a street that serves no functional purpose. The Board of Public Works reviewed the proposed street vacation, and no unfavorable recommendations were received from City departments. AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: THE STREET TO BE VACATED IS A PORTION OF KALORAMA STREET FROM HILL STREET TO THE FIRST NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY FOR A DISTANCE OF 165 FEET, MORE OF LESS AND A WIDTH OF 34 FEET STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT Pursuant to Indiana Code Section 36-7-3-12, the Common Council is charged with the authority to hear a{I petitions to vacate public ways or public places within the City. The following Ordinance vacates the above described public property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I. The first (II~T001 OCSH00081) covers the period of August 29, 2009 through August 28, 2010; the second (II~T0009CSH00081) covers the period of August 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010. The City serves as a fiscal agent and recipient of funds for the eligible agency receiving the SPC dollars. The funding allocated provides support for 6 units and 27 units respectively, of sponsor based rental assistance for housing mentally ill clients. Addressing homelessness is one of HUD's top priorities and the continuance of these projects makes a significant contribution toward assuring the development of a continuum of care system in our_ community.
