Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant, Laura A. Vasquez, and Eddie Miller present. Also present were Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar, The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13"' Floor County City Building, South Bend, Indiana. Martin, Clerk REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 18 2x092 The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:42 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, with President Juanita Dempsey and Board Members Patrick Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant, Laura Vasquez, and Eddie Miller present. Also present were Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, I')"' Floor, County City. Building, South Bend, Indiana. ACCEPT MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS President Dempsey advised that if there were no objections by members of the Board, the minutes of the Public Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular Meetings of the Board held on November 4, 2009, and the Special Meeting of November 10, 2009 would be accepted. CHARGES 2009-05 - CHRISTOPHER OUSER Upon a motion by Mr. Cottrell, seconded by Ms. Vasquez and carried, a Hearing was set for December 9, 2009 at 8:30 a. m, to hear charges against Corporal Christopher Houser, ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 57-2009 - A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFEIFY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH B HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT Upon a motion by Mr. Cottrell, seconded by Ms. Vasquez and carried, the following resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Safety RESOLUTION NO. 57-2009 A RE SOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ESTABLISHING THE 2010 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is empowered by law to establish rules and regulations for the South Bend Police Department: and WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the City of South Bend that the Police Department holidays be set with certainty. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend: SECTION I. That for all sworn police officers who are assigned to work as their regular schedule, 5 on and 2 off, Monday through Friday, the following holidays shall apply: REGULAR MEETING SECTION 11. That for all sworn police officers who are assigned to work their regular work schedule, 6 days on and 3 days off, there shall be no paid holidays. The following dates are designated as critical duty days: SECTION 111. Miller, Member Attest: s/Linda Martin, Clerk REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 18,2009 84 ACCEPT AND FILE DONATION TO SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Boykins, Police Department, advised the Board of a generous donation made to the South Bend Police Department Honor Guard by Linda Anderson, in the amount of $550.00. There being no further discussion, the donation was accepted and filed. FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT — OCTOBER 2009 President Dempsey indicated that unless there were questions or objections by members of the Board, the monthly statistical report for the month of October 2009 as submitted by the Police Department, would be accepted for filing. HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT Upon a motion by Mr. • • urant, seconded by Mr. Millerand carried, the following Resolution approved by the Board of • RESOLUTION NO. 58 -2009 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITE' OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA ESTABLISHING THE 2010 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is empowered by law to establish rules and regulations for the South Bend Tire Department; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of South Bend that the Fire Department holidays be set with certainty. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE SOLVED, by the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend: SECTION II. For all firefighters who work 24 -hour shifts, Critical Duty Days are as set forth in Article 25 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the year 2010, which is in force in 2010 per Article 33 of the Agreement. SECTION III.
