RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, WALTER G. GLASS, was at all times cognizant of the many
problems facing the City of South -Bend; and devoting his efforts to the
welfare of the City far beyond the ordinary call of duty; and
WHEREAS, he served the City as a Councilman of the Third District
since 1947, until his illness and death, November 5, 1965, and
WHEREAS, in carrying out his duties and responsibilities as
Councilman, and
WHEREAS, we admired him for his sound judgement, clarity of
expression, loved him for his fairness and generousity, and esteemed him
for his great courage, his high sense of honor, and his constant devotion
to the interests of South Bend, and
WHEREAS, in his passing, the members of this Governing Body have
lost a staunch friend and a wise counsellor.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND:
THAT they herewith record for the City the highest respect and esteem
in which WALTER G. GLASS, was held in his official and unofficial capacities ;
and as a true, loyal and devoted citizen of the City; and do record the most
sincere appreciation of the City for his devotion and assistance to its
welfare; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the utmost sympathy be extended to his
wife, ELLEN H. GLASS, and daughter, MISS PHYLLIS GLASS, in their great loss;
and that this resolution be spread in full upon the minutes of this meeting
and a copy, of this resolution delivered to his wife and daughter in token
of our sympathy.
