RESOLUTION NO . 187-68
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATION
WITH THE STATE OF INDIANA FOR A GRANT UNDER
CHAPTER 298, ACTS OF THE 1967 INDIANA GENERAL
ASSEMBLY.
WHEREAS, Chapter 298, Acts of the 1967 Indiana General Assembly
and the Federal Water Pollution Control Act provide financial aid
for the construction of sewage treatment works; and
WHEREAS, South Bend, Indiana , herein called the Municipality,
has plans for a municipal water pollution control project generally
described as improvements to the existing wastewater treatment plant
including; chlorination facilities , final clarifiers , degritting and
aeration units and sludge lagoons , which plans have been prepared, and
the Municipality intends to proceed with the construction of such
works;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
1. That the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, be author-
ized to make application for a State grant and provide the Stream
Pollution Control Board such information, data, and documents pertain-
ing to the application for a grant as may be required, and otherwise
act as the authorized representative of the Municipality in connection
with said application.
2 . That the Municipality agrees that if a Federal grant and
State assistance for the Project are provided pursuant to Section 8
of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as amended (33 U.S.C. 446
et seq.) , and Chapter 298, Acts of 1967 Indiana General Assembly, the
City of South Bend, Indiana, will pay the remaining costs of the
approved construction.
3 . That all statements , data, and supporting documents made or
submitted by the Municipality in connection with any application for
Federal assistance for the proposed construction are to be deemed a
part of the application for State assistance.
4. That the Municipality agrees to comply with the requirements
of the Stream Pollution Control Board.
5. That certified copies of this resolution be prepared in
quad-ru-pliā¢cate to accompany an application for a State grant for the
construction of the municipal water pollution control project.
