Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana May 13 , 19 69 City Clerk Approved and signed by me 19� 4�Z"I a VA�� Mayor VOOT %01*1 - i c + l a RESOLUTION 211-69 RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR A PLANNING GRANT. WHEREAS, the South Bend Common Council adopted a resolution authorizing the City of South Bend, Indiana, to file an application with the Sec- retary of Housing and Urban Development (herein called the "Secretary") for a grant to assist it in planning and developing a comprehensive city demonstra- tion program, and WHEREAS, such application has been duly filed and has been approved by the Secretary, and WHEREAS, the Secretary has tendered a proposed contract under which the United States of America (herein called the "Government") agrees to make a grant to pay the lesser of $134,000 or 80970 of the costs of planning and developing of a comprehensive city demonstration program, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, as follows: Section 1. The proposed Contract, designated "Contract for Plan- ning Grant for a Comprehensive City Demonstration Program", consisting of Parts I and II, under which the Government will make a grant to the City of South Bend, Indiana, to aid in the planning and developing of a comprehensive city demonstration program pursuant to Section 104 of the Demonstration Cities and Metropolitan Development Act of 1966, is hereby approved. Section 2. The Mayor, Lloyd M. Allen of the City of South Bend, Indiana, or his lawful successor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said proposed Contract and is further authorized to execute amendments to said Contract, provided such amendments do not increase the monetary obligation of the City of South Bend, Indiana. The Mayor, Lloyd M. Allen, is hereby auth- orized and directed to impress and attest the official seal on the necessary counterparts of said proposed Contract and any amendments thereto, and for- ward such counterparts to the Secretary for execution on behalf of the Govern- ment, together with such other documents relative to the approval and execution thereof, as well as to this Resolution as may be required by the Government. Section 3. Mayor Lloyd M. Allen, or his lawful successor, is hereby authorized to file requisitions, together with necessary supporting docu- ments, with the Government, from time to time as grant funds are required, requesting payments to be made on account of the grant provided for in said Contract, and to do and perform all other things and acts required to be done or performed in order to obtain such payments. Section 4. The City of South Bend, Indiana, hereby gives its A assurance that the necessary non-Federal share of the cost of the planning activities, undertaken pursuant to its application as modified and the grant contract, will be duly provided. Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately. Submitted for consideration this 12th day of May 1969.
