RESOLUTION NO. 264-71
A RESOLUTION APPROVING RESOLUTION NO. 1-71
ADOPTED BY THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
RELATING TO THE NEED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS : On the lst day of March, 1971, the Economic
Development Commission of the Civil City of
South Bend, Indiana adopted Resolution
No. 1-71 setting forth the need for economic
development, a copy of which resolution is
attached hereto and made a part hereto,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend, Indiana that the
Council hereby approves the said resolution
setting forth the need for economic develop-
ment in the City of South Bend.
THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THIS 8ti day of

RESOLUTION NO. 1-71
A RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH THE NEED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS: The City of South Bend has experienced in recent
years a decline from 59% to 30% in its labor force
in the manufacturing sector and ,
WHEREAS: The Hammer, Green, Siler Study indicates that signi-
ficant remedies are not at present available to cause
an upturn in manufacturing employment and,
WHEREAS: There has been a drastic reduction in what is referred
to as the import dollar which is brought to the
community through sales made on regional , national ,
and international basis.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Economic Development
Commission that because of insufficient employment
opportunities and insufficient diversification of
industry, the economic welfare of the city would be
benefited by the acquisition and leasing to others
of industrial facilities.
