The grant will be used to obtain Emergency Driver Training Simulators for the Fire Department. The City of South Bend is required to contribute 20% of the total project cost, or $90,000.00, and the U:S. Department of Homeland Security is contributing the remaining 80% of the cost, or $360,000.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: Section I: The following sum of $450,000.00 be and hereby is appropriated from Emergency Service Capital Improvement Fund No. 288 for the purpose of purchasing Emergency Driver Training Simulators to be used by the South Bend Fire Department pursuant to a U.S. Department Homeland Security grant, of which 80% ($360,000.00) is the federal share and 20% ($90,000.00) is the City of South Bend's share. Section 11: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. LUECKE, MAYOR SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT HOWARD W BUCHANON FIRE CHIEF November 5, 2009 Derek Dieter President of Common Council County City Building President Dieter: Please find attached for the common council consideration an ordinance appropriating $450,000 out of the South Bend Fire Department Emergency Medical Service Capital Improvement Fund (EMSCIF) #288 to purchase emergency driver training simulators as the result of the South Bend Fire Department being awarded an Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Departments of Homeland Security (DHS).
