Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana July 11 19 72 City Clerk Approved and signed by me 19 Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 314-72 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING $4,453. 94 FROM ACCOUNT Y-532 TO ACCOUNT Y-54, WITHIN THE FIREMEN' S PENSION FUND. ----------------------------------- WHEREAS, certain extraordinary conditions have developed since the adoption of the existing annual budget so that it is now necessary to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the annual budget for Account Y-54 within the Firemen' s Pension Fund; and WHEREAS, a surplus exists within Account Y-532, also within the Firemen' s Pension Fund, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION 1. That the sum of $4, 453.94 be transferred from Account Y-532—to Account Y-54, both being within the Firemen' s Pension Fund. SECTION II. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. /s/ Terry S. Since there was no one present to speak on this resolution, Councilman Kopczynski made a motion that it be held over until the meeting of July 10, 1972, seconded by Councilman Horvath. Motion carried. (Meeting of June 26, 1972 Resolution was read in full. Meeting of July 10, 1972 Councilman Parent moved to strike resolution transferring #4, 367. 29 from Account Y-531 to Account Y-54 within the Firemen' s Fund. Seconded by Councilman Miller and carried. A new Resolution was then read in full. A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING $4, 453 . 94 FROM ACCOUNT Y-531 to ACCOUNT Y-54, WITHIN THE FIREMEN' S PENSION FUND. Public Hearing was then held and Fire Chief Jack R. Bland explained the the need for the resolution. Due to a culmination of longevity suit filed in 1964, the court mandated the pension fund to make back payments to retirees. Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Miss Guthrie asked why the descrepancy between Y 531 and Y 532 as stated in the Resolution. Chief Bland said it should be Y 532 . Councilman Miller moved to amend Title and Section I from Y 531 to Y 532. Council- man Parent seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Resolution passed by a roll call vote of six ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor and Kopczynski. Irene K. Gammon, City Clerk
