Gentlemen:
There will be before you on July 22, 1974 , a resolution
confirming the contract between the City of South Bend
through its Board of Wastewater Commissioners and Ferguson
Fabrication Inc. The amount of the contract is $17, 714 . 25
for the construction and mounting on our chassis of 3 each
minimum 10. 5 Cubic yds. hydraulic ejection type dump bodies.
This equipment will be used in combination with the cab
and chassis you approved last fall, to remove lime sludge
generated by the new processes in the Plant expansion, now
being completed at the Wastewater Plant.
These trucks and bodies are part of the Plant expansion
plans as designed by the project' s consulting engineering
firm, and are therefore a legitimate Construction Fund
expense.
Due to the sticky characteristics of lime sludge, a normal
dump body would not be adequate. This type of body is more
of a self cleaning body and will make for a smoother operation.
I will be glad to answer any further questions you may have .
Respectively,
/lXcha-ell L. Vance
