RESOLUTION NO. 435-74
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND SUPPORTING AND APPROVING
THE CONCEPT OF REVENUE SHARING.
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend desires to continue
to participate in the Federal Revenue Sharing Act under Title I of
the State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act of 1972.
WHEREAS , the act contemplates that the local units of
government are to use said funds for public safety, environmental
protection, public transportation, health, recreation, libraries,
social services for the poor or the aged, and financial administration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend that:
SECTION I. The Common Council of the City of South
Bend fully supports the general revenue sharing program.
SECTION II. The Common Council desires and requests
that the Congress of the United States enact legislation to continue
the general revenue sharing program beyond its initial five-year
period.
SECTION III . This Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.

general revenue sharing.
SECTION II.
The Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, Jerry J.
Miller, is hereby authorized to do all things necessary in order to
comply with Title I of the State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act
of 1972 .
SECTION III.
The Common Council of the City of South Bend fully
supports the Revenue Sharing Act and will do all tH- ngs necessary in
order to carry out the purposes of the revenue sharing act.

SECTION IV.
This resolution shall be in force and effect immediately
upon its passage by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana.
