delivered as quickly as possible. Stated delivery lead time may be included as an integral

The Board will award the bid to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. If the bid is not
awarded to the lowest bidder, the factors used to justify the awards will be stated in writing at the
request of any bidder.
The Board reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids or portions thereof and to waive any
irregularities or informalities.
The unit shall be new and unused, the latest current model in production and shall have all
standard equipment normally furnished on such models.
General:
The intent of this publication to describe a tub -type grinder which is fully assembled.
Overall Dimensions:
Unit shall be no more than 53,000 lb (24040.4 kg), 61.1' (18.6 m) long with conveyor unfolded,
8.4' (2.6 m) wide and 13.1' (4 m) tall.

Engine shall be a Caterpiller C15 Tier 4 Final turbocharged, after -cooled, 6-cylinder diesel
engine providing 540 hp (402 kW) and 1823.3 it.-Ib (2472.1 Nm) of torque. Engine shall be
liquid -cooled with a minimum coolant capacity of 20 gal (75.7 L). The engine air intake shall
have primary and secondary backup filters with precleaner and electric restriction indicator.
Fuel Tank:
Fuel system shall be equipped with a 251 gal (950.1 L) fuel tank and require ULSD fuel. Tank
shall be shack -mounted, with a lockable fuel cap and pre-screen filer neck.

Electrical Svstem:
Electrical system shall be 24 V, negative ground system, using 12 V, lead -acid, wet cell batteries
SD, not less than 1155 CCA at 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Alternator shall not be less than 190
amperes minimum -rated capacity.
Hydraulic System:
Hydraulic system shall have an operating capacity of 90 gal (340.7 L). Tank shall include a
filtration method of (2) in -tank return filters with suction strainer. Tub drive shall have a
dedicated circuit, load -sense, pressure -compensated pump producing up to 22.1 gpam (83.7
L/min). Implement circuit shall use load -sense, pressure -compensated pump providing up to
20.7 gpm (78.4 L/min). Loader hydraulic shall consist of load -sense, pressure -compensated
pump with flow capabilities of up to 54.2 gpm (205.2 Umin).
Clutch:
Unit shall be equipped with a microprocessor -controlled, hydraulically actuated, PT Tech dry
clutch, with built-in torque limiting capabilities.

Unit shall be a triple -axle, over slung spring suspension, all steel construction trailer rated at no
less than 20,000 lb (9071.8 kg) per axle. Shall be a 2" (5.1 cm) replaceable Kingpin. Unit shall
also be air actuated with spring supplied park brakes and with

Cutting mill shall be drum -type design. Harrrrnenmill drum shall have a tip diameter of 29" (73.7
cm) and cutting width of44" (111.8 cm) with reversible drum skin and replaceable end -caps.
The hammermilI drum assembly shall contain 7 hammers and 14 tips.
Tub shall have a minimum of 7.8' (2.4) inside diameter with a fixed flare design measuring a
maximum of 12.3' (3.7 m) at the top of flare opening. Minimum depth of the tub shall be 5. V
(1.5 m).
Tub base shall be flared out, allowing cutters to pass along the tub wall reducing material
bridging in the tub. Tub wall shall be constructed of a minimum of.25" (6.4 nun) TI steel with
four tub agitators welled vertically on the tub wall to help direct material over the hammermill.
Tub floor is 3/8" (1 cm) thick TI steel,
Rotation and speed of the tub shall be variable from 0-10 rpm Tub shall be raised and lowered
with a hydraulic cylinder and have pressure -operated check valves and include a mechanical tub
table support. Tub table lift shall be interlocked to disable the tub tilt function if hammermill
rotation is detected.

Tub shall tilt sideways for easy tub cleanoK mill box access, screen changes with full open
position being no greater than 91 degrees.
Thrown Object Restraint:
Machine shall be equipped with a thrown object restraint system. This system shall consist of
replaceable dedlector at the rotor which directs material struck by the hammers in a direction
blocked by the tub cover. Cover restrains objects with the greatest weight and velocity from
being thrown from the tub. Cover shall be rotated hydraulically into transport or operating
position.
Cover will lock in the operating or transport positions. Controls to poskon the cover for grinding
or transport shall be located in the control panel, in the cab of the loader and on the remote
control.
Discharge Svstem:
Continuous discharge conveyor shall come standard with a 3-ply 330 V-cleated heavy-duty belt
measuring 36" (91.4 cm) wide. Continuous -flow conveyor system shall consist of a three-point
frame mount design providing better belt tracking with minimal adjustments. Conveyor must
have lubricated drive and idler rollers with remote grease fittings for hard -to -reach bearings.
Conveyor belt speed shall be fully adjustable with a maximum speed of 778 fpm (237.1 m/min).
Discharge conveyor shall have a maximum load height of 14' (4.3 m) and be able to fold over
the top of the tub for transport.
Controls:
Unit shall be equipped with a side access control panel capable of operating all machine
functions. Wireless radio remote control shall come optional with a loader unit.
Screens:
There shag be screens located on two sides of the hammermill. Screens shall be constructed so
that they can be removed without unbolting or removing welds. Screens shall be constructed of a
minimum thickness of.75" (19.1 mm) AIR 400 steel.
Screen shall be no less than 2700 sq in (17419.3 sq cm). Breaker bar shall consist of four usable
sides, constructed from Tl material as well as independent from the screen.
Warran
United one-year warranty from date of purchase of 1,000 operating hours, whichever occurs
first.

Manuals:
Included with the machine shall be an operator's manual tethered in a storage container arced
to the machine. In addition, an operator's manual, maintenance and parts manuals will be
provided.
Tool Kit:
Unit to include a basic tool kit and grease gun with all tools necessary to perform required
maintenance and making simple repairs.
Parts List:
Unit to include complete list of mahenance items such as fluids, filters, belts, etc. List shall
also include wearable items like teeth or blades.
Training:
Vendor to include all set-up, machine operation and preventative maintenance training at the
compost facility and will remain onsite until acceptance of the turner is complete. Training to
include up to 16 hours of operator training and 16 hours of technician training.

exception to specifications
1. Tier four engine - Duratech is not required to use a tier
four engine,
we use a tier three 540 hp. Cat. with
no particulate filter, catalyte converter,
DEF tank. Setter running with less
maintenance.
2.Hydraulic system 110 gallon tank, we do not use pressure
compensated pump, just simple gear Pumps'
3. Clutch We use the wt version of the PT clutch.
It's a better clutch, oil cooled, microprocessor
controlled, with a built in torque limiter.
4 Hammer mill The hammer mill specified is Vermeer only.
We use rod & pin style mill with differant
hammer patterns. No reversible drum skin
or replacable end caps. Hammer mill Width
is 441, tip diameter IS 25.511.
S.Tub Lower section of tub is not flard out, our
hammer mill is close to the tub wall.
We don't use T--1 steel in the floor. Walls
are 1/41, and floor is 3/811. Tub rotation is
variable, Tub tilt is 90 deg.
6 Tub cover our tub cover covers entire tub when folded up
and hydraulically folds out to open. There
is no functionto lock in storage position
as the cover rests on top of the tub
7. Discharge system We use dual 12" augers under the mill, instead
of a belt. much stronger than a belt and
less maintenance.
8. Screens We have a safety strap that ,requires two bolts
to remove. Standard screens are 1" mild steel.
