ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
Committee Members Present: John Voorde, Randy Kelly, Jo Broden, Gavin Ferlic (late)

Agenda: Organizational Meeting
Committee Chair John Voorde called the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee
Organizational meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. Committee Chair Voorde handed out to the
Committee the year-end report of the 2016 Public Works and Property Vacation Committee. He
then introduced the Committee members for this upcoming year.
Committee Chair Voorde then described an issue regarding street lighting and how it affects
quality of life. He entertained doing an inventory of how many lighting fixtures there are in the
City and who owns them. Then, start considering expansion and maintenance. He stated, There's
been an initial survey but it needs to be addressed and updated. This is my priority this year. Also
last year, Committee Chair Broden set up tours of some public works facilities and these can be
beneficial for getting a better understanding of issues this committee addresses. I would also like
to design a better process to figure out which streets are on the queue to be repaired or resurfaced
for 2017. Committeemember Gavin Ferlic and Councilmember Regina Williams-Preston joined
the meeting.
With no other business to discuss, Committee Chair Voorde adjourned the Public Works and
Property Vacation Committee Organizational meeting at 3:43 p.m.
