A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT
TO THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING
AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, AN APPLICATION FOR COMPREHENSIVE
PLANNING ASSISTANCE UNDER SECTION 701 OF THE HOUSING ACT
OF 1954 AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, the Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the
City of South Bend, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Executive Officer of the City is required,
through its authorized representative, to submit an application to the
Department of Housing and Urban Development for Comprehensive Planning
Assistance, pursuant to Section 701 of the National Housing Act of 1954
as amended; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Resources and Economic Deve-
lopment for the City of South Bend, Indiana, is the authorized rep-
resentative of the Mayor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana:
Hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City of South Bend, through
the Department of Human Resources and Economic Development, to submit an
application (which is attached hereto as Exhibit A) requesting forty -two
thousand dollars ($42,000.00) in Comprehensive Planning Assistance pur-
suant to Section 701 of the National Housing Act of 1954 as amended from
the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Dear Mr. Parent:
Attached is a copy of the City's 701 Comprehensive Planning
Assistance application for FY 1976.
The city seeks $42,000 from the United States Department of
Housing and Urban Development to provide operating expenses and a pro-
fessional staff to develop, coordinate and maintain the self - explanatory
municipal planning and management projects outlined in the 701 application.
A resolution seeking Common Council authorization to submit the
application is being filed for your consideration.
