Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana April 13 ig 76 :J;'� -Lt -, City Clerk Approved and signed by me ae . 11 / �/ 19— 11 Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 515 -76 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCUTH BEND, INDIANA DEDICATING THE COMMON COUNCIL'S FULL SUPPORT TO THE DEVELOPMENT AND REVITALIZATION OF DOWNTOWN SOUTH BEND WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend is dedicated to furthering the development of downtown South Bend as a bustling, intriguing, heterogeneous, and economically sound center that it should be; and WHEREAS, the Council is dedicated to furthering the development of an enhancing and energizing retail - trading and decision - making center, and a place for Corporate headquarters; and WHEREAS, the Council is dedicated to the preservation of the downtown area as the traditional place of prominence in the commercial, 'economic, business, recreational, and social areas; and WHEREAS, the Council is dedicated to revitalizing downtown South Bend by being alive and busy with people by night as well as by day; and WHEREAS, the Council is dedicated to make all efforts to further the goals of rebuilding and revitalizing the downtown area and stimulating the growth of its surrounding community, NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend: SECTION I. That the Common Ccuncil fully supports all efforts of the many community and governmental organizations which are dedicating themselves to rebuilding and revitalizing downtown South Bend. SECTION II. That the Common Council firmly supports in particular the efforts of South Bend 2000, Incorperated, to rebuild the downtown area with a major enclosed retail shopping mall as a part thereof. SECTION III. That the Common Council further supports all efforts and plans which create a fiscally sound generating base in the downtown area with a sound and secure tax base. SECTICN IV. That the Common Council further recog- nizes that in order to nurture a sound and dynamic urban nucleus it must continue to provide the best possible security and police protection in the downtown area. SECTION V. That the CcTn:cn Council firmly dedicates itself to developing with other organizations, measures of devel- oping accessible, convenient, and competitive parking for all citizens and in particular the customers, business persons, and visitors cf the downtown area. SECTION VI. That the Council firmly supports the enhancing of the Century Center as the major cultural and conventi center in the Midwest. SECTION VII. That the Common Council of the City of South Bend pledges its full support and encouragement in meeting its responsibilities to and for the insuring of a successful downtown South Bend thvough the 21st Century. SECTION VIII.
