A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, APPROVING THE PLACING OF THE
INSCRIPTION "TO SERVE AND TO PROTECT" ON ALL
MUNICIPAL POLICE AND FIRE VEHICLES.
WHEREAS, the members of the police and fire forces of
the City of South Bend render valuable services to the citizens
of our community; and,
WHEREAS, the policemen and firemen are dedicating them-
selves as public servants to protect and serve the needs of our
community,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council
of the City of South Bend, Indiana that:
SECTION I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend
approves the placing of the inscription "To Serve and To Protect"
on all municipal police and fire vehicles.
SECTION II. The "To Serve and To Protect" inscription
shall serve as a reminder to all citizens of our community of the
valuable services being rendered by and for our public servants.
SECTION III. The Board of Public Works be requested to
supervise the coordination of the inscription placement with the
appropriate departments and officials.
SECTION IV. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval
by the Mayor.
