A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PROCLAIMING
AUGUST 23, 1976 TO BE "DAN HARRIGAN DAY."
WHEREAS, Dan Harrigan of South Bend, Indiana, has
achieved the distinction of having attained the bronze medal
for the 200 -meter backstroke in the 21st Olympiad held in
Montreal, Canada; and
WHEREAS, Dan Harrigan is the first South Bend citizen
to attain such distinction; and
WHEREAS, Dan Harrigan has by his achievements brought
honor to the United States of America and the City of South Bend,
Indiana.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council
of the City of South Bend, Indiana;
SECTION I. That the 23 day of August, 1976, shall be
proclaimed Dan Harrigan Day" in the City of South Bend, Indiana
in honor of his achievements in the 21st Olympiad.
SECTION II. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.
