A special meeting of, the Board of Public ,Safety was held on ,Monday, Djecember
18, 1961 at 9:30 A.M. CST. All members were present. Also present were:
Police Chief Dutrieux, Capt. Orson Harmon, officer Marvin 0: Martz.
HEARING ON CHARGE FOR VIOLATION OF REGULATIONS OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS
OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF SOUTH BEND
The Board met at a special meeting to hear charges of violations of Rules
5 and 11 of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department of South
Bend, against Police Officer Marvin 0. Martz.
Officer Martz acknowledged that he did receive a copy of the Charges; said
Charges having been served upon him personally by Sgt. Glenn 0-., Zubler
and copy of Notice of Hearing. Said copy of Charges and copy of Hearing
are ordered placed on file.
In addition, there.ha s.been submitted a Report dated December 89 1961
concerning Officer Martz' failure.to make his aiOO A.M. and t:00 A.M.
pull and his admission that he slept in his car from 2: A.M. to 4:50
+ A.M.
1tJ Upon admission of the uioletioips-Aw- Board has determined the following
findings: Officer Martz will be assessed two weeks pay, beginning on
January 1, 1962. From January 1, 1962 to January 15, 19629 said officer
will work as usual but without pay.

Upon the recommendation of Chief Dutrieux and Capt. Harmon, and based
upon his record which has been good, the Board has been lenient in its
ruling in this matter. However* the 804rd MW states" that in 'the -future,
,all violations' of the Rules `and-Regulations-,of the Police Department
will .be dealt --With more severely.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
