A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, November
279 1961 at 10:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes of the last
regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered
paid to the various suppliers.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( SUB -STANDARD DIVISION) HEARINGS
Comes now Harold Miller, attorney, representing the owner of property located
at 116 N. Walnut Street and requests an extension in order to bring property
up to standard.
Continuance granted until May 1, 1961. Owner wishes to rent rooms in this
dwelling but Board ruled that no roomers will be allowed in the premises
until property is brought up to standard.
Mr. Grabarz reported that he had contacted Mr. Rightley, owner of property
located at 122 E. Paris Street.

Request granted.
PERMISSION TO DEMOLISH
Mr. Grabarz requested permission to demolish a-xlwelling,.lgc.ated at.620
Neddo Court and to accept the bid submitted by 0 &"C Wrecking —Company —,...which
was the lowest bid and which was as follows:
Without Salvage $175.00
With Salvage 200.00
The other bidder was the B & 0 Wrecking Company.
Permission granted by the Board to raze structure and award_bid. to O-& C
Wrecking Company as requested.
TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS)
The following installations were approved by the Board:
2 - NO PARKING THIS SIDE signs on east side of 100 N. Kaley to
prohibit parking 2 block south of Colfax Avenue
Stop signs installed on St. Joseph Street, both sides, at Eckman St.
Stop signs installed on Vine Street, both sides, at 35th Street.
Stop sign installed on Frances Street, southeast corner, at Miner St.
Stop sign installed on Iowa Street, northwest corner, at Ardmore Trail.
Stop sign installed on Fassnacht Street, northeast corner, at Johnson,
Stop sign installed on Bergan Street, southwest 4orner, at Huey Street,
replacing a Yield Right of Way sign.
Stop signs installed on Falcon Street, both sides, at Jefferson,
replacing Yield Right of Way signs.
Stop signs installed on Randolph Street, both sides, at Marine Street.
2 - 2 Hr. signs installed at 501-503 E. LaSalle Street.
POLICE DEPARTMENT (APPLICATION)
An application for the Police Department from Jack Lee Coppens was accepted
and ordered placed on file.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT
A Street Light Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( STREET LIGHTS)
Kollowing the recommendation of the Electrical Department, the petition of
Granville Ziegler, Postmaster and_other_s,_for the installation of 1 - 4000
lumen street light at 1619: S. Franklin Street was approved.
TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( PETITION - POSTOFFICE)
A Petition from Granville Ziegler and others for the curbing directly acroz
the street from the loading zone on S. Franklin Streetto be painted yellow.
Three vehicle parking spaces are involved.
The Petition was referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and
recommendation. -
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( PETITIONS - STREET LIGHTS)
The following Petitions for street li5hts were referred to the Electrical
Department for investigation and recommendation:
1. Petition from Patrick Cullen and others for a street light in the
2500•block of W. Grace Street between Olive and Meade Streets.
2. Street light Petition for a street light on Liberty Street between
Dunham and Sample Streets, referred to the Board by Councilman Muszynski.
3. A Petition from Councilman Muszynski for a street light on Humphrey
Court at the south end of the school lot. Lighting at this location is
inadequate, according to the petitioner,
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 10:45 A.M.
