A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held at 9s30 A.M. DST
on Wednesday, September 13, 1961 in the Office of the Police Chief.. Messrs.
Irving J. Smith and R. S. Andrysiak were present. Also present were
Assistant Chief John Andert and Captain Robert Brown of the Fire Department
and Fireman John Cunningham. The purpose of the meeting was to hear said
Fireman Cunningham regarding chaxges filed by the Board against him for
violations of Article 14, Section 4 of the Rules and Regulations of the
South Bend Fire Department on the 2nd day of September, 1961.
The charge was read to Fireman Cunningham who acknowledged having been
served with said charge, that he understood the contents of same and
admitted violation of the Rules and Regulations as charged.
The Board, after hearing Officer Cunningham and also Assistant Chief Andert
and Captain Robert Brown, made the following decision: Officer Cunningham
having been under suspension since September 6, 1961 will remain under
suspension for a period of four months, as of September 6, 1961.
During this period of suspension, Fireman Cunningham will continue to make
payments into the Pension Fund and also the Insurance payments:'Fireman

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:50 A.M.
