A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, Ji'ly 31,
1961 at 9L00 A.M. DST. All -members were present. Also present was the Chief
of Police and Police Officer Erwin F. Kowalski.
POLICE DEPARTMENT (VIOLATION OF REGULATIONS OF P24I:CE DEPARTMENT)
The Charge for Violation of Regulations Nos. 19 3 and 6 of the Rules and
Regulations of the Police Department of South Bend on July 25, 1961 against
Irvin Kowalski will be amended and the name "Irvin" will be corrected to read
"Erwin" instead.
Comes now Erwin Kowalski before the Board and says that the above charges were
served to him by a Police Officer and.said Char%es were read.
Based upon the fact that Officer Kowalski is to retire in March of 1962 upon
completion of 20 years with the Police Department, the Board finds that, based
upon Officer Kowalski's admission of this violation of said Regulations of
the Police Department, that Officer Kowalski will sere e•., from July 27th through
August 2nd, 1961 without pay.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 9s20 A.M. ,
