A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Friday, June
232 1961 at 2:00 P.M. All members were present.
RE: FIRE STATION NO. 13 00N1'RACTS
It appearing to the Board that the various and sundry bids for the con-
struction, reconstruction and remodeling of Fire Station No. 13 exceeds the
yes; available for full compliance of all the work to be done,, it appears,
howeTerg that there are certain contracts which can be awarded at this time
to the lowest and best bidder which totals the amount of $38,727.00;
That said contracts should be awarded and are herewith awarded, contingent
upon the other low and best bidders withholding the withdrawal of their
bids and being bound by their bids for a period of 90 days;
That the secretary of the Board is directed to contact said bidders for their
written consent;
That,, after said consent is obtained, then the above -mentioned bids of
q74 $38,727.00 shall be awarded forthwith and the Controller of the City of
South Bend is directed to meet with the Chief of the Fire Department to
ascertain what -excess monies are available within the Department for the
purpose of an introduction, of an Ordinance to transfer said monies which
are not anticipated to be used in the 1961 Budget to Account No. 711, and when
and if said Ordinance is approved and adopted by the Common Council of. the
City of South Bend and approved by the Mayor and State Tax Commissioners,
the balance of the contracts heretofore referred to shall be awarded.

adjourned at 2:30 P.M.
