A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
December 5, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of
the previous regular meeting and special met g.�were read and approved.
Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARD DIVI_SION_
Comes now John Grabarz with reference to property owned by Mr. Thompson at
1205 King Street. Appearing before the Board were Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Victor
Bowering who is residing at the above address and is purchasing said
property by land contract. Mr. Thompson wa§ called to show cause why
property had not been brought up to standard as provided by the Sub -
Standard Division of the Building Department. He contended that it was
impossible to repair said property until it was vacated and Mrs.
Thompson advised the Board that she had been unable to find quarters
for herself and her eleven children.
After hearing the above interested parties, it was the decision of the Board
that the Building Department and the Health Department contact the
Department of Public Welfare and the Trustee and request that they find
quarters for Mrs. Thompson and her family. The case is continued until
January 9, 1961. If, by this date, the property has not been brought
up to standard to conform to the provisions of the Building and Health
Departments it shall be torn down.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT (BIDS)
Comes now John Grabarz and requests permission to award bid for demolition
of structure at 413 Arthur Street. The bid was awarded to Joseph Kriezopolski
who bid $350.00 without salvage and $800 with salvage.
AWARDING OF BID -EXECUTION OF ooNTRACT (FIRE STATION NO' 2 REMODELING)
Comes now Callix Miller and recommends that, after examination of bids,
the following bids for said remodeling of Fire Station No. 2 be awarded:

For remodeling Fire Station No. 2 in accordance with specifications:
(Adjusted proposal) 1 $24,682.00
B_rehmer Electric Co.
502 E. LaSalle Ave.
South Bend, Inca.
For Electrical Wiring as per specifications:
(Adjusted proposal) 4 $1,642.00
Edward J. White, Inc.
1011 S. Michigan St.
South Bend, Ind.
For plumbing and heating as per specifications. $1,215.00
(Adjusted proposal) Add $63.70 $19278.70
Following the recommendation of Callix Miller and after examination by
the Board, the contract for said remodeling is now awarded to the above
named contractors and the contracts signed.
POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT
The monthly report for October, 1960 from the Police Department was
accepted and ordered placed on file.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT REPORT
Monthly report for November, 1960 for the Building Department was accepted
and ordered placed on file.
OUTAGE REPORT
Street Light Outage Report was accepted and ordered placed on file.
FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS
Applications for the FirB Department for the following were accepted and
ordered placed on file: Howard L. Siderits, Richard Stanley Szymanowski,
William Jean Hupp...

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 11:30 A.M.
