A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, May 169 1960
at 10.-00 A M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting
were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various
suppliers.

become effective on this, the 16th day of May, 1960.
Application from Frederick Phillip Odusch for the Police Department was examined
and ordered placed on file.
Special Police Bond for Maria Van Kirk was received and ordered placed on file.
Application from Terrance Patrick Nowicki for the Fire Department was examined
and ordered placed on file.
Comes now Rev. Bowles in response to a letter sent to him by John Grabarz, Director
of the Sub -Standard Building Division of the Building Department at the direction
of the Board at their meeting of May 9, 1960 concerning the removal of a frame
addition to a masonry building located at 318 S. Iowa Street. Rev. Bowles had
agreed to remove the frame addition but has not yet done so. The Board now
directs Rev. Bowles to remove the aforementioned frame addition by June 11 1960
or the Building Department is directed to remove said frame addition.
The monthly report of the Division of Weights and Measures is presented by Mr.
Bert S. Cichowicz and is hereby accepted and ordered placed on file.
Comes now one Edward Heston, owner of a house located at 2914 S. Michigan Street,
South Bend, Indiana with a request to have the above -mentioned house moved from
2914 S. Michigan Street to 117 E. Irvington, South Bend, Indiana. The mover of
this dwelling is J. Mitchelen. The Board is"advised by Verner Lane of the
Building Department that inspection of the house and lot has been made and found
to be in good condition with the exception of the electrical wiring, and it is
recommended that this house be rewired. Upon completion of the rewiring and
there being no remonstrators, the permit toirmove is approved.
This being the date set for a Progress Report on the condemnation order, comes
now one Mr.`. C. Magee of 506 Keasey Street, South Bend, Indiana after a 30 day
continuance'of this matter. Mfr. John Grabarz of the Building Department reports
that up t� this date no repair work has been done on this property. By order of
thA.Board; the hearing of this order is continued for an additional 30 days for
final action.

were sent to the owners of the above -mentioned property to appear before the Board
at the regular meeting on May 16, 1960. Since owners failed to appear at this
meeting, the Board now authorizes the Building Department to deliver letter personally
or mail a registered letter, return receipt_;requested, to the said owners requesting
them to appear before the Board at the regular Board meeting on the 31st day of
May, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. to show cause why no action has been taken to bring the
Oibperty in` que-stjon.-up,_-3o ;ttandard.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was called
adjourned at In in A.M.
