Sabo, Clerk U May 21 1960 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, May 2, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. Special police bonds are now approved for Robert Smith and Garwood E. Schroff. Special police applications are now approved for Ralph Estel Fouts, Jr. and Julius Yuhouse. The Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension Fund hereby informs the Board of Public Works & Safety of the acceptance of Dr. Richard W. Holdeman to the Pension Fund Medi- cal examining staff. The appointment of Dr. Holdeman is the result of a vacancy cre- ated when Dr. Robert B. Sanderson previously requested dissociation as the pension fund's medical examiner. The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Police Department 3-wheel motorcycles were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication -',in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in The Record with an affidavit signed by Ruby McMahon were submitted to the Board and found suffi- cient. The single bid received,reads as follows: Harley Davidson Sales Company South Bend, Indiana Two (2) 3-wheel Motorcycles Total bid price ------- $2796.40 The bid will be taken under advisement and study and will be awarded at the next regular Board meeting. The Board hereby approves the appointment of George Gyori and Ernest Rozanski to the South Bend Fire Department. Said applicants have passed all required written examinations and the physical examinations by the City Doctor and further having been accepted for membership in the Pension Fund of the Fire Department, the appoint- ment shall become effective the 2nd day of May, 1960. It appearing to the Board that notice of condemnation was served by the Building De- partment to Ison and Addie Townsend, 147 N. Wellington as well as the Muhammab Temple of Islam addressed to 535 S. Green Street in Chicago, Illinois with reference to the structure located at 147 N. Wellington and it also appearing that no action was taken to this date, therefore, said matter is referred to the Board of Public Works & Safety for hearing. After examining evidence on this matter as submitted by the Building De- partment, the Board hereby directs the Sub Standard Division of the Building Depart- ment to proceed with the legal advertising of bids for condemnation of same.
