HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/07/60 Board of Public Works MinutesMarch 7, 1960 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on. Monday, March 7, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regularmeeting were read and approved. The Clerk of the Board is directed to advertise for a I- Ton Truck for the Electri- cal Department. The Board now approves the recommendation of the Electrical Department to install a 4000 lumen light at the following locations: Woodmont Drive and Piedmont Way Woodmont Drive and Trent Way Woodmont Drive and Hillsdale Road Catherwood Drive and York Road Catherwood Drive and Manor Drive Catherwood Drive and Wirhrop Drive Catherwood Drive and Coral Drive 1600 Block of S. Catalpa Avenue In regards to the condemnation notice issued on the building plus a frame addition on said building, located on the premises at 318 S. Iowa Street, the Building Department informs the Board that said dwelling is found to be condemnable, therefore, condemna- tion of same will be done forthwith. That further, the residence dwelling on said premises at present is not in a habitable condition and Rev. Bowles, owner of said real r-estate, agrees to the Board that if in one year from date he is unable to bring this Lip dwelling up to Building Code standards, then on the 1 year anniversary date, said dwell- ing should be demolished forthwith. There being no,further-business to come before the Board, the meeting as called adjourned at 10:20 A.M. CHAIRMAN 4 3v. � Attest: An.thonV Sabo, Clerk March 14, 1960 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, March 14, 1960 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Special police bond is hereby approved for Frank Skibinski. The monthly report of the Weights & Measures Department is hereby accepted and placed on file. Upon recommendation of the Fire Chief, Bernard Kielton is hereby promoted tofthe rank of Capt. to become effective March 1, 1960. Comes now Chief Alex Andrzjewskiand recommends the reduction of Captain Rudplph Pinter to the rank of private. Effective the 16th day of March, 1960. Comes now I. C. McGee, 615 East Ohio Street and appeals to the Board on a condemnation order against a structure on said real estate. The Board now continues this matter for 1 week in which time Mr. McGee is directed to meet frith the Building Department to meet and discuss the required list of repairs necessary to bring this building up to Building Code standards. The Board hereby approves the appointment of Thomas Quirk to the South Bend Fire De- partment. Said applicant has passed all required written examinations and the physical examinations by the City Doctor and further having been accepted for membership in the Pension Fund of the Fire Department, his appointment will become effective this 16th day of March, 1960.
