A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, February 1, 1960
at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were
read and approved.
The Clerk of the Board is directed to advertise for 2 sedans for the Police Department
and the Controller now informs the Board that he advises that said bids be taken on the
29th day of February, 1960.
The Board hereby approves an'
1agreement made this 1st day of February, 1960 be and be-
tween the Board for the City of South.Bend, Indiana and Callix E. Miller for the erec-
tion of some new interior partitions, remodel, repair and recondition of Fire Station
No. 2 located at the corner of Sample and Lafayette Streets in the City of South Bend,
Indiana. See agreement for full details.
Special Police bonds are now approved for all special police officers of the Bendix Corp.
and also for Milton Gilbert of the Humane Society.
Comes now Fire Chief Alex Addrzejewski and recommends to the Board for approval the pro-
motion of Oscar VanWiele to the rank of Battalion Chief. Approved this lst day of Febru-
ary, 1960.
Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol are hereby examined and placed on
file for Doris Nemeth.
Applications for the Fire Department are hereby approved and placed on file for Alexan-
der Walczewski.
Permission is hereby granted to Chief of the Fire Department to send John Hadrick and
Carl Lederer to attend a one -day conference on Fire Administrator School at Purdue U-
niversity in Lafayette, Indiana.
Comes now Rev. Bowles and informs the Board that he is a tenant in possession of real
estate located at 314 Iowa Street which was recently ordered condemned by the'City Bldg.
Department and further informs the Board that he desires to correct the%sub standard
condition and bring said house within requirements of the Building Code. Rev. Bowles
is hereby direxted to discuss this matter with the Building Department and get full
details as to what must be done and hearing regarding same will be continued for one
week.
The bid/ for the Police Department sedans is hereby awarded to the Newman Altman Company,
being the lowest and best bidder, for the total net difference for 2 units of $4417.96.

ed at 10:35 A.M.
