Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana October 24 19 78 l City Clerk Approved and signed by me Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 654 -78 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT TO UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY, AN APPLICATION FOR AN APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY GRANT FOR A SOLAR ENERGY DEMONSTRATION PROJECT UNDER SECTION 112 OF THE ENERGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORIZATION ACT OF 1977. WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, and is the Applicant for Department of Energy funding under Section 112 of the Energy Research and Development Administration Appropriation Authorization Act of 1977; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that: SECTION I. The Mayor of the City of South Bend is hereby authorized to submit an application for an Appropriate Technology Grant in the amount of Thirty -two Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty -three Dollars and Twenty -eight Cents ($32,253.28) to the United States Government, Department of Energy. SECTION II. The Mayor of the City of South Bend shall submit to the Common Council a line item budget in Ordinance form prior to any expenditures of any grant funds received upon approval of this application. SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. Mayor October 18, 1978 M E M O R A N D U M F 3 o 2 • 1440 County -City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 219/284 -9335 TO: MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL FROM: CARL ELLISON, DIRECTOR, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT nd az,�-O� SUBJECT: SOLAR ENERGY GRANT The attached Resolution seeks Common Council authorization to submit an application in the amount of $25,000 for a Solar Hot Water System demonstration grant to be administered by the Department of Human Resources- If approved,this grant would help meet the hot water demands of E1 Campito Day Care Center through the installation of solar collector panels on the facility's roof. The Department is in the process of preparing the application and expects to have it available for your review prior to the meeting.
