INDIANA 46601 Members of the Council South Bend Common Council 4th floor County -City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Dear Council Members: 219/284 -9742 I'm presenting for your approval at the November 20, 1978 meeting a resolution by the Council approving the Mayor's application to the National Endowment for the Humanities for development funds for exhibits at Discovery Hall. Joseph A. Wetzel and Associates has recently completed the planning study which basically laid out the plans for permanent exhibits laying out the Industrial History of South Bend. It is our hope that through this application we may ob- tain partial funding for design and construction of the results of the planning study. Total projected cost for this phase is $500,000.00 with $175,000.00 coming from this grant application, and the balance coming from private con- tributions and in -kind match of staff time. We are under a deadline for submitting of this application, that being December 1, 1973. As always, myself or Mr. Welch will try to answer any questions which may arise. Sincerely, Peter .WMul 1 en Contro ler
