A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, November 16, 1959
at .10:00-A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were
read and approved.
Applications for the Fire Department were examined and placed on file for William Kline.
Applications for the Police Auxiliary SChool Patrol were' examined and pla"ced on file for ,
Maryellen Laurita, Louis Kuspa, Violet Shirts, Maude Botteron, and Madie Wallace.
Comes now Police Chief Dutrieux and submits to the Board a request for retirement of
Richard Crush, Det. Sgt., to take effect as of December 10, 1959. Request approved.
Nick Horvath, Superintendent of the Electrical Department, recommends installation of
4000 lumen lights at 2230 Roger Street and at the intersection of Corby and Turnock
Streets.
A petition is hereby received from Mr. and Mrs. John Tomaszewski, 745 S. Albert and
several others asking for the improvement of Albert Street from Sample to Ford and also
a petition from Frank Van Driessche, 842 S. Albert and several others asking for the
improvement of Albert Streetp north of Sample Street by the construction of street light-
ing. Petitions now referred to the City Electrical Department for investigation and
recommendation.
The bid for the Fire Department is now awarded to:
Freeman Spicer Company
Total bid price ----------- $32493.80
The bid for the Police Department is now awarded to:
Newman Altman Company
Total bid price ----------- $1980.00
T Here being no further business to come before the Board, it was so announced and the
meeting was called adjourned at 10:40 A.M.

A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Thursday, November 19,
1959 at 2:00 PM. All members were present.
Upon recommendation of Police Chief Dutrieux, the Board hereby approves the appointment
of Capt. James E. Trevey for promotion as Inspector of the Detective Bureau to replace
Insp. John Porte. Effective the 23rd day of November, 1959.
There being no further business to come before the Board,it was so announced and the
meeting was called adjourned at 2: 10 PM. 1J
