All members were present. -,Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were examined and placed on file for Mary Hazinski. A petition is hereby received from Mr. and Mrs. Edward Slaby, 2230 Rogers Street and several others asking for the improvement of Rogers Street from.Huey ,(in center of the block) to Olive Street by the construction of street lighting. Petition refereed to Nick Horvath of the Electrical Department. A.,special police bond is hereby approved for Robert Kiszer and Fred F. Miller of the Drewry's Limited Corp. Applications for the Fire Department were examined and placed on file for Ronald Steiner. The monthly report of the Police Department for September, 1959 is hereby accepted and placed on file. Reference to the bids taken -this date for the Fire Department, it appearing to the �,,; Board that specifications for said bid are limited to one manufacturer, the Board now returns all bids received this date unopened and the Clerk of the Board is hereby di- rected to readvertise for same. A petition is hereby received from Dale.'s 5� to $1.00.Store, 2207 S. Michigan Street ".and several others asking for the improvement of the north south alley from 100 West Ewing to 100 West Donald Street by the construction of a light in the alley. Referred to the -City Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. A memorandum from the office of.the Chief of the Police Department regarding Public Re- lations with Newspapers and Radio T. V. Broadcastirig`.'Stations is hereby Placed on file with the Board. Permission is hereby granted to the Chief of the Police Department to send Sgt. Slaby to attend a demonstration of the Center for Police Training of Indiana University to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on October 9, 1959. Permission is hereby granted for Jack Andrzejewski of the Fire Department to attend the Motorola Communications and Electronics School in Chicago, Illinois from the date of October 18, 1959 through October 239 1959.
