A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, July 27, 1959
at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular, meeting
were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of-$21,787.33 were approved and
ordered paid to the following suppliers:

Applications for the Police Department are now examined and placed for filing for
Edinard Scott.
Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol are now examined and placed on
file for Ida Dabis and Mary Love.
Permission is hereby granted to the Fire Chief to attend the Firemen's Convention in
Indianapplis, Indiana on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 319 August 1, and August 2,
1959.
The Board hereby accepts and approves the decision of the Firemen's Pension Fund to
grant Kenneth W. Waterson a monthly disability pension of $231.36 of fifty-five per
cent of a fully paid first class firemen's salary. This action has been governed by
the provision of the pension laws, and upon recommendation of Dr. J. Paul English,
medical examiner, said pension will become effective the 16th day of'August, 1959.
Comes now Devere D. Goheen representing Leroy and Mary Goheen, owners of a building
located at 1817 S. Miami Street and requests that the demolition order heretofore
entered be continued for 60 days or more specifically the 28th day of September,
1959. Said Goheen informs the Board bids will be let for reconstruction of said
building by said time. On representation of said Attorney the Board hereby grants
continuance of order to the 28th day of September, 1959.
Roger DeClercq, Asst. Supt. of, the Electrical Dept., recommends installation of the
following 4000 lumen lights at these locations:
Altgeld, opposite of 1346; In the alley south of Mishawaka Ave.
between 23rd and Ironwood Drive; Taylor Street in front of 1808 and 1812; Taylor
Street in front of 1724 and 1720.
There being no further business to come before the Board, it was so
meeting was called adjourned at 10:40 A.M.
