All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. H..Huguenard. Said appearance is based upon appeal of Dennistons reference to condemnation order. Hearing had on evidence of Building Commissioner and also by evidence of the Denniston's and Attorney, A. H. Huguenard. The appeal is now denied and the condemnation order is modified in the following particulars: 1. Said owners will be given three (3) weeks which is until March 16, 1959 to remove certain property from the real estate, and 2. That only tenants, owners, or agent shall be permitted to enter onto premises to remove property. Further, any and all injuries will be the responsibility of those going on premises. Comes now Mrs. Maude Chapman, 1007 E. Sample Street and her:Contractor Earl Maden reference to condemnation order issued by Building Department on structure located at 1009 E. Sample known as the River Cafe and submits evidence that the structure can be rebuilt to conform to the Building Code requirements and requests permission to do so. The Board hereby agrees, after examining evidence, that said request will be granted and further that Plans and Specifications be pubmitted first to the Bldg. Commissioner for 1:his approval. Also, it is understood that a period of 60 days will be given to complete this project. Verner Lane, Building Commissioner, comes now and informs the Board that several buildings located at 916-918 E. Sample Street and owned by the City of South Bend are in very poor condition and the Building Department is going to proceed to take action for demolition of these buildings. The Board hereby directs lit. Lane to issue said said order Unediately. Special police applications are now approved for Wilbur Thomas, Willard Blake, Elmer J. Coil and Robert L. Seals. Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were approved for Helep Klysz and placed on file. Applications for the. Fire Department were examined and placed on file for Ronald Spencer, and applications for the Police Department were examined and placed 6n file for Fred Johnson. The monthly report for January, 1959 of the City Police Department is hereby ex- amined and placed on file. The bid for the Police Department is hereby awarded to Newman Altman as follows: Newman Altman Company A non -collusion affidavit and a certi- 220 E. Jefferson Blvd. fied check in the amount of $500.00 South Bend, Indiana accompanied the bid. One (1) 1959 Studebaker Lark V8 4-door deluxe sedan Total net price ----$ 49676.93 QZ11 There being no other business to come before the Board, it was so announced and T the meeting was called adjourned at 10:45 A.M.
