HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/09/59 Board of Public Works MinutesJanuary 27, 1959 A special meeting of the Board of Public.Safety was held on Tuesday, January 27, 1959 at 2:00 P.M. All members were present. Meeting business consisted of the following matter: The Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana hereby approves the appointment of Ralph Stanley Rakowski, 1233 Sussex Drive to the City Fire Department. Said applicant has passedt, all required written examinations and physical examinations by both the City Doctor and the Pension Board Doctor and also having been found acceptable for membership in the Firemen's Pensioh Fund, his appointment will become effective as of the 1st day of Febuary, 1959. There being no other business to come before the Board, the meeting was called adjourned at 2:20 P.M. February 9, 1959 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, February 91 1959 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $7,216.53 were approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers: American Dist. Applications for the Fire Department are accepted and placed on file for Frank Leb- iedzinski. Applications for the Police Department are accepted and placed on file for James Anastos. The montly report, of the Weights & Measures Department as submitted to the Board by Bert S. Cichowicz, City Sealer, is hereby accepted and placed on file. Also, at this time the City Sealer is given permission to go to Indianapolis to have the City Weights and Measures Department equipment calibrated for sufficiency. 1t� The bid for the Police Department is hereby awarded to: ... Two (2) 1959 VW4 Studebaker Lark 4-door sedans One (1) 1959 Studebaker VD4 Lark Station Wagon Total net price ----$4.947.72 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana hereby approves the appointment of Donald Niezgodski to the City Police Department. Said applicant has passed all required written examinations and physical examinations by both the City Doc- tor and the Pension Board Doctor and also having been found acceptable for membership in the Police Pension Fund, his appointment will become effective as.of the loth day of February, 1959. 1 The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids forithe Fire De- partment were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and in the Record with an affidavit signed by W. DeDanio were submitted to the -Board and found sufficient. The bids received read as follows: American LaFrance Corporation Elmira, New York U.S.A. A non -collusion affidavit and a bidder's bond in the amount of 10% of the bid accompanied the bid.
