A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, December 299
1958 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present, except Frank J. Bruggner. Minutes
of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Claims in the total a-
mount of $2$82.66 were approved and ordered.,paid_to the following suppliers:

The bids formerly received on December 159 1958 for the Police Department are
all rejected by the Board and will be re -advertised at a later date.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was ad-
journed at 10:20 A.M.

A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, January 5,
19599 at 10:00 A.M. Frank J. Bruggner was absent, all other members present.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved.
Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were approved and placed onfile
for Eugenia Wonisch, 1702 S. Chapin Street.
The Clerk of the Board is directdd to advertise for 3 sedans for the South Bend Police
Department.
Effective the 1st day of January, 1959 as so recommended the Police Chief Dutrieux,
Insp. Clem Hazinski will carry the title as Assistant Chief of Police, however, said
rank will be carried in connection *Ith the Traffic Engineering Department.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City ofSouth Bend, Indiana hereby appoves
the appointment of Raymond Eugene VanWynsberghe, 3519 West Western Avenue to the
City Fire Department. Said Applicant has passed all required written examinations
and physical examinations by both the City Doctor and the Pension Board Doctor and
also having been found acceptable for membership in the Firemen's Pension Fund,
this appointment will become effective as of this 16th day of January, 1959.

Nick Horvath, Supt. of the City Electrical Department, recommends the installa-
tion of the following street lights:
3 - 4000 lumen lights from Edison Road and Higkory Road,
south to Rexford Drive
1 - 2500 lumen light 900 block West City Hall Ct.
Increase 1 - 1000 lumen light at -rear of 228 S. St. Joseph St.,
(School Administration Bldg.) to a:4000 lumen
Remove 1000 lumen light northeast corner of Dale and.Donald Sts.
and increase light to 4000 lumen at the south-
west corner.,cr. .
The Board now approves the recommendation of the Supermintendent and he is di-
rected to proceed as stated above.
There being no further business to come before theBoard. it was so announced and
the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 A.M.
