A -petition is hereby received by the Board from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mark,
17012 Edison Road and several others asking for the improvement of Hickory
Roadw - West Side - from Edis6niRoad to Corby Boulevard by installation of
a street lamp on the southwest corner of Edison and Hickory Roads and any
other street lamps on the west side of Hickory Road south to Corby Boulevard.
Petition is now referred to the City Electrical Department for investigation
and recommendation.
There being no further business to Come before the Board, the eeting was called
adjourned at 10:40 A.M.

at-10:00 A.M. All members were present. .Minutes of the previous regular meet-
ing were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $39401.20 were approved

Applications for the South Bend Fire Department were examined and placed on file
for Donal Jozwiak.
Applications for the South Bend Police Department were examined and placed on
file for Donald Jozwiak.
Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were examined and placed on
file for Betty Guyer and Anna Gluchowski.
The Board now approves the appointment of Ronald W. Michalski, 229 S. Kaley St.
to the City of South Bend Fire Department. Said applicant has passed all re-
quired written examinations and physical examinations by both the City Doctor
and the Pension Board doctor and also having been found acceptable fpr membership
in the Firemen's Pension Fund, this appointment will become affective as of the
16th day of December, 1958.

The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the
Police Department were opened and read aloud:. Proofs of publication in the
South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and also proofs
of publication in the Record with an affidavit signed by W. DeCanio were sub-
mitted to the Board and found sufficient. The bids received read as follows:
Newman & Altman, Inca A non -collusion affidavit and a
South Bend, Indiana certified check in the amount of
$550.00 accompanied the bid.
