A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, November 24,
1958 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular
meeting of the Board were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of
$309,484.74 were approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers:

In regards to the hearing on the building located at 1135 S. Franklin Street,
comes now Mr. Carl Weidler and informs the Board that he wishes to bring the
Building up to Building Code standards and further that he will submit plans.
and specifications of the list of repairs needed to the Building Commission of
the South Bend Building Department for approval. The Board now grants Mr. Weidler
a 90 day period in which to complete the work and hearing will then be held on the
23rd day of February, 1959 to discuss the status of same.
Comes now Mrs. Miller, 105.7S. Iowa Street and requests permission again for an
extension to repair a building located on her property. Permission is granted for
this extension and another hearing will be held on January 19, 1959 and if on said
date the work is not completed, then the Building Department is directed to pro-
ceed with advertising for condemnation.
In regards to the dwelling located at 2902 Western Avenue, Mr. Nemiec of the Western
State Bank requests from the Board that said condemnation be withheld until the 19th
.day of January, 1959. Permission granted subject to the fact that the building will
remain vacant during that time and further that said building will not be used for
any purpose.
Comes now Chester Allen, Attorney of Allen And Allen, in regards to the condemnation
order issued against the dwelling located at 101 S. Chicago and informs the Board
that the dwelling is ready to be torn down and the materials he wishes to retain for
sale. The Board now directs Mr. Allen to coordinate with Mr. Lane, Building Commiss-
ioner as to whether he will engage his own contractor or whether Mr. Lane will hire
the contractor.
Special police applications are hereby approved by the Board for Stanley Kar-
czewski, Leonard Krulewitch, and George L. Horvath.
Applications for the Fire Department are hereby examined and placed on file
for William Granning.
Applications for the Police Department are hereby examined and placed on file
for ,.John Rotge and Buddy Parker.
The.Board now approves the recommendation of the Electrical Department Super-
intendent to install the following street lights:
4000 lumen light at intersection of Prospect and Calvert
Increase from 4000 to 6000 lumen light at Webster and Grace
Indtall a 2500 lumen rear of 116 S. Cherry Street
There being no further business to come before the Board, it was so.,: announced
and -the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 A.M.

The monthly report of November, 1958 for the SouthBend Police Department is here-
by accepted and placed on file in this office.
The Clerk of the Board is directed to advertise for six (6) sedans for the South
Bend Police Department.
There being no further business to come before the Board,-it'was so announced and
the meeting was adjourned at 10:45 A.M.
