A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, August 11,
1958 at 10:00 A.M. All members were: present. Minutes of the previous regular
meeting were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $2, 173.88 were
approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers:

Special Policemen's bonds are now approved for James Davis and placed on file
in the office of the Board.
Comes now Capt. Trevey of the Civil Defense Department and requests permission
from the Board to attend a conference of the United States Civil Defense Council
from September 9 to September 129 inclusive in New York City, New York. Permission
granted.
Bert S. Cichowicz, now submits the monthly report of July, 1958 of the Weights &
Measures Department. Accepted and placed on file.
The hearing scheduled for today in regards to the property located at 1516-18 Lis-
ton Street will be continued until Monday, August 18, 1958.
Comes now Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioner, and requests permission on behalf
of Mr. Al Comer, 205 N. Huey Street for a 30 day extension for completion on the
improvement of said property. Within this period, Mr. Comer -is directed to submit
the plans for such improvement on the dwelling. Permission is granted for the ex-
tension and hearing will then be held on Monday, September 8, 1958.
The Board now approves the appointment of Vincent Nagy, 455 S. Walnut Street and
Richard Kazmierczak, 1617 W. Indiana Avenue to the Police Department of the City
of South Bend, Indiana. Said applicants have passed all required written exami-
nations and also the necessary physical examinations by both the City Doctor and
the Pension Board doctor. Appointment of said applicants to become effective this
llth day of August, 1958.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:45 A.M.
