All members were present. Minutes of the.previous regular meeting were read and approved. Lafayette Street asking for the improvement of the east side of Lafayette Street from Sample St. to Garst Street by the construction of one or two lights on the east side. Pe- tition is now referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and reco- mmendation. A petition is hereby received from Mr. and Mrs. Percy Dawson, 126 N. Kenmore Street and several others asking for the improvement of Kenmore Street from Washington Street to Linden Street by adding more street lights on this Street. Petition is now referred to the City Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. It is hereby recommended by the Fire Chief the following promotions and de- motions in the South Bend Fire Department: Rene Baetsle, 1234 N. Johnson Street, demoted to the rank of Private(Effective April 16, 1958) Anthony Gadaca, 2529 Bonds Avenue, promoted to the rank of Captain. (Effective May 1, 1958) Oscar J. VanWiele, 4321 S. Fellows Street, promoted to the rank of Captain. (Effective May 1, 1958) Michael Kuminecz, 631 N. Brookfield St., promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. (Effective May 1, 1958) 1 I M The Clerk of the Board is directed to advertise for three (3) 1958 4-door sedans for the Sobth Bend Police Department. Publications to appear in the South Bend Tribune and The Record on the 25th day of April and on the 2nd day of May, 1958 and bids will be taken on the 5th day of May, 1958. Sgt. Wiskotoni of the South Bend Police Department hereby requests permission to be excused from Police Duty for a period of 15 days from April 26, 1958 through May 10, 1958 to go on active"duty with the U. S. Air Force. Permission granted. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was ad- journed at 10:55 A.M. (CST). Fire Chief Andrzejewski now requests permission to send CarlLederer, Ted Zmud- zinski, and Edward Hosinski, to a meeting at Purdue University on Tuesday, April 29, 1958. Permission granted.
