Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Applications for the Police Department were accepted and approved for Albert Edward DeRoo. The request of the Pension Board of the South Bend Fire Department that Fireman Joe Herczeg be relieved of duty is now up before the Board. Raving been examined by the Board of Safety and the contents contained towith that said Joe Herczeg in making his application for appointment alleged that he had been a resident of the City of South Bend for 2 years immediately prior to making application. The Said Firemen's Pension Board noted that he had not been a resident; it is therefore Re- solved that said Joe Herczeg's employment with the South Bend Fire Department be terminated the 15th day of March, 1958. 1 1 C r�l The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and the bids for the Central Fire Station Service Garage Addition are now opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication with and affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood of the Sorath Bend Tribune and an affidavit signed by Ruby McMahon of the Record were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. Sabo, Clerk March 11, 1958 A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Tuesday, March 11, 1958 at 2:00 P.M. (CST). All members were present. The Board now approves the appointment of Jack Raymond Bland, 813 N. Huey Street, Stanley D. Sparazynski, 436 S. Camden Street, and John E. Cunningham, 321 N. Jacob Street to the Fire Department of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Said applicants having p?ssed all required written examinations and also having passed the necessary physical examinations by both the City Doctor and the Pension Board Doctor and also having been found acceptable for membership in the Firemen's Pension Fund, therefore the appointment of Jack Bland, Stanley Sparazynski, and John Cunningham to the Fire Department will become effective on the l6th day of March, 1958. It is further approved by the Board upon recommendation by the Pension Board that a one Raymond McCallum be granted a disability pension of $231.36 per month or 55 per cent of a fully paid first cuss firemen's salary. Pension to be effective as of April 1, 1958. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 2:30 P.M (CST). HAIRMAN 1
