Richard Powers, Community Policing Co-Chairperson, 235-9402 Karen Ainsley, NNN Director/ Weed & Seed COP Committee: 232-9182 Weed & Seed Unveils New Billboard Designs The City of South Bend Weed & Seed Alliance (SBWSA), and the Community Policing (COP) Committee are pleased to present the results of their first art billboard design contest for the city's new Weed & Seed site. The theme for this year's contest was "Graffiti Against Graffiti." Students, in grades 8-12 from Clay High School, Riley High School, and LaSalle Intermediate Academy, were asked to create and design a billboard with this year's theme. On Monday, November 23, 2009 at 9:00 A.M., at the NE corner of Sancome St and Lincoln Way West (1419 L.W.W.), a short press conference will take place, celebrating the successful Student Art Billboard Contest. The billboard will highlight the Grand Prize Winning Design, submitted by Ms. Sarah Rudasics, representing Clay High School. Invited guests include: • Ms. Sarah Rudasics, her parents, and representatives of Clay High School • Mayor Stephen Luecke ~ South Bend Chief of Police Darryl Boykins • 1 St District Councilman, Derek Dieter • 2nd District Councilman, Henry Davis, Jr. • Michael Dvorak St. Joseph County Prosecutor • Interim United States Attorney David Capp -Northern District of Indiana ~ Superintendent James Kapsa, South Bend Community School Corporation • Members of the South Bend Weed & Seed Alliance Inc. Over seventy students barticipated in the pro ect this year. The youth were allowed to create their own designs and submit their original artwork to their art teachers for judging by the COP committee.
