Cesulka of Bendix Aviation Corporation submitted to the Board a certificate indemnifying the City of South Bend for the special police officers employed by Bendix Products Division of Bendix Aviation Corporation. Accepted and placed on file in the office of the Board. Officer's reports were submitted to the Board from R. Thomas, #213 and F. Voss, #133. Placed on file. Chief Dutrieux appeared before the Board requesting permission to have the five members of the Pistol Team represent the Police Department in the National Mid - Winter Pistol Championships, at Tampa, Florida which are to be held from March 18 through March 22, 1958. Departure for theis trip would be on March 14 and the men would return to'duty on March 259 1958. Permission granted. Chief Dutrieux alto requests permission for himself and Insp. Hazinski to attend Police Administrator's seminar at Purdue University on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th days of February, 1958. Permission granted. Bert S. Chichowicz submitted to the Board his monthly report for December, 1957 for the Weights & Measures Department. Accepted and placed on file. Also placed on file was the report of the Police Department. A special police application is hereby approved for Glen V. Rockhill this 27th day of January, 1958. Mr. Robert Gammage appeared before the Board with reference to application for a special police officer. Matter taken into consideration and report back at the next regular meeting to be held on February, 3, 1958 at 10:00 A.M. An application for the Fire Department is hereby examined and placed on file for Mr. Robert Janowiak. Nick Horvath, Electrical Superintendent, recommends the installation of the following street lights: 4000 lumen light at Lombardy Drive and Ridge Way 4000 lumen light at Lombardy Drive and Linden Avenue The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to advertise that a public auction will be held in the Police Station selling all bicycles and other small items that have been lostp abandoned, or stolen and turned into the Police Department. Also to re -advertise for the Fire Department for one (1) 1958 4-door sedan and one (1) 1958 4-door Station Wagon. The Board now approves the appointment of Mr. Daniel J. Mirocha, 1251 Sussex Drive to the Fire Department of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Said applicant has passed all required written examinations and also passed the necessary phy- sical examinations by both the City Doctor and the Pension Board Doctor and there- fore his appointment shall become effective as of the 1st day of February, 1958. The Board now awards the following bid to Maxim Motor company of Middleboro, Massachusetts. MAXIM MOTOR COMPANY Middleboro, Massachusetts A non -collusion affidavit and a bidder's bond in the amount of $2,600.00 accompanied the bid. One (1) Model 23610 Maxim custom-built motor driven 1,000 gallon pumping engine with side entrance canopy cab, as per your specifications, complete for ---------------------$239997.25 The time now being after 10:00 A.M. (CST) it was so announced and the bids for the Police Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publication with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood of the South Bend Tribune and an affidavit signed by Ruby McMahon of the Record were submitted to the Board and found sufficient. Single bids were received for both items. Three (3) Police Servi-car motorcycles, 45 cubic inch, Model GA Total net price---------$4148.20 After examination of the bids and bids having met requirements as set out in specifications, the Board now awards the bids to the Freeman Spicer Company and Harley Davidson Sales for the Police Department equipment.
