A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, September 9,
1957. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were
read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $8790.47 were approved and
ordered paid to the following suppliers:

The monthly report of the Weights & Measures Department for the month of August,
1957 as submitted to the Board by Bert S. Cichowicz, City Sealer, is hereby accept-
ed and placed(on file in the office of the Board of Public Works &.-Safety.
Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were examined and placed on file
for Helen Lippold.
Applications for the Fire Department were examined and placed on file for Michael
Ruszkowski.
Applications.for the Police Depattment were examined and placed on file for James
Dulcet and Henry Stypczynski.
A petition is hereby received asking for the installation of street lights in the
five and six hundred blocks of Cushing Street. Petition referred to the Electrical
Department for -investigation and recommendation.
Chief Dutrieux reguests permission to send Capt. Trevey, Lt. Bergan, and Capt. Orban
to attend the Retraining Session of the F. B. I. National Academy in Washington D.C.'
on November 4 through November 8, 1957. Permission granted.
Officer Andrew Daly request permission to be granted his 2 weeks terminal leave
starting September 16, 1957 and also said Officer having completed 20 years of service
with the South Bend Police Department, respectfully submits his resignation effective
as of October 1, 1957. Permission granted.
Chief Dutrieux requests permission to send Insp. Porte and Officer DeVolder to the
Indiana State Mental Health Association Conference to be held in Indianapolis on
September 18, 19, 209 and 21, 1957. Permission granted.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meet i g was adjourned
at 10:55 A. M. (DST).
