A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, August
262 1957 at 10:00 A.M. (DST). All members were present. Minutes of the
previous regular meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following
suppliers in the total amount of $3335.34 were approved and ordered paid
to the following suppliers:

A special police application
is hereby
approved for Edward Stillson.
The monthly report of the Police Department is hereby accepted and
placed on
file.
Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol are approved and placed
on file for Dorothy Stites and Ann Locsmonday.
Applications for the Police Department are approved and placed on file for
Edward Palicki.
Nick Horvath, Supt. of Electrical Department, recommends the installation
of a 4000 lumen light at 906 East Dubail and a 2500 lumen light at 627 South
Street.
Police Chief Dutrieux requests permission to enter the Five Man Pistol Team
in the Indiana State Pistol Ghampionsh�p to be held at the State Police Pistol
Range at Putnamville Indiana on September 7 and 8, 1957. Permission granted.
Captain Russell Hunt requests permission for a militgrylleave of absence from
police duty from October 19 1957 to February 79 1958 to report for active duty
training at the Armoured School at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Permission granted
subject to the understanding that military leave be granted and said Hunt would
receive no compensation from City during this period, however seniority rights
would continue.
The T. B. League request permission to set up X-Ray machine for a half -day at
Station #12. Permission granted.
Fire Chfbef Andrzjewski requests permission to send Batt. Chief Ledderer to attend
State Fire School at Purdue University on the 10, 11, 12, and 13 days of August,
1957. Permission granted.

The time now being after 10:00 A.M. (DST) it was so announced and the bids
for the Fire Department hose were opened and read aloud. Proofs of publi-
cation in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood
and in the Record with an affidavit signed by Mrs. Ruby McMahon were submitted
to the Board and found sufficient. The bids received were as follows:
