A regular meeting of the Board of :Public Works and Safety was held on Monday, July
159 1957 at 10:00 A.M. (DST). All members were present. Minutes of the previous
regular meeting were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $3,746.16
were approved and ordered paid to.the following suppliers:

Police Department hereby requests permission to place a booth in front of the St.
Joseph Bank & Trust Company, corner of Jefferson and Michigan Streets, on the 179
189 19, and 20th days of July, 1957 for the purpose of disposing of tickets for the
annual.Police Show. Permission granted.
Nicholas Horvath, Supt. of Electrical Department, recommends the installation of the
following lights:
Two (2) - 1000 lumen lights in the 1300 block Garland Road.
4000 lumen light at 901 North Elmer Street.
4000 lumen light at 1216 N. Twyckenham Drive.
4000 lumen light at 1245 N. Twyckenham Drive.
The time now being after 10:00 A.M. (DST) it was so announced and the bids for the
Police Department sedans were opened and read. Pro6fs of publication in the South
Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with an
affidavit signed by Ruby McManon were submitted to the Board and found sufficient.
The single bid received reads as follows:

520 S. Lafayette St.
South Bend, Indiana
A non -collusion affidavit and a
certified check in the amount of
$1008.00 accompanied the bid.
Six (6) 1957 Studebaker Commander Regal BW4 4-door sedans
Less discount and allowance
Net total for six (6) units ------------------------------ $10,079.30
The bid was taken under advisement and after due consideration the Board now awards
the contract for the six (6) sedans for the Police Depa r tment to Freeman Spicer Co.
