HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/14/64 Board of Public Works MinutesDecember 14, 1964 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, December 14, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved, BUILDING_ DEPARTMENT;LUB-STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS Comes now Richard Lisziewski, Sub -Standard Supervision'and advises the Board that Mrs.,C. Wezesien, owner of properties located at 1013 and 1015 Western Avenue had appeared, as requested, with a report of progress made in repairing the above properties. Mrs. Wezesien was unable to stay until the Board meeting because she had to report for work. Mr. Lisziewski advised the Board that his Department had made another ins,oection, as ordered by the Board, and'he read a list of sub -standard items that had to be repaired or replaced in order to bring the Op properties up to Code standards. He also advised the Board that the assessed valuation of both properties was $1,900.00. Mr. Lisziewski recommended that the propertiea be vacated by April, 1965 and demolished. After hearing all who wished to be heard it was the decision of the Board to request that Mrs. Wezesien appear before the Board with 81 firm contract for repairs by a reputable contractor within 30 days. If she fails to follow these ixwtructions, the properties will be ordered vacated by April, 1965 and will be ordered demolished. A progress report on property owned by Frank and Helen Cook, located at 506 27th Street was submitted to the Board by Mr. Lisziewski' who stated that Mr. Cook had failed to appear before the Board on this date, as ordered and that very little had been accomplished in repairs on the subject property. After hearing Mr. Lisziewski, it was the decision of the Board to order advertisement for bids for demolition. The Board also directed the Sub -Standard Division to advise Mr. Cook of this action by letter. SUB -STANDARD DIVIa ON: OPENING 9E BID (--MOLITIQN ) Advertising for bids for demolition of property owned by David Obert, located at 313.N. Scott Street, resulted in the receipt of one bid, which is: Chas, Clough 25412 State Road 2 South Bend., Indiana For demolition of property located at 313 N. Scott Street: $490.00 - retain salvage $450.00 - stack salvage. Since the bid of Chas. Clough is in order and since it is the only bid received, it is now awarded in accordance with the terms as set out by the Department. EUCLICAL DEM—RINEIII: IMIA-LI—ATMN—s Following the recommendation of Eugene Radecki, Electrical Department Superintendent, the Board approved the following installations: 2 - 600 Lumen Type Street Lights at the entrance of Scottsdale Addition (south entrance) Jackson Road & York Road. Tvrjckenham between Chester & Ndshawaka. Yield Sign - Yield Sign & Posts on S.W. Corner of Leer and Twjckenham. �FIC ENGI=: PETITION TRAFFIC SIQ= ) A Petition from Susan Yoder and othersin the area, requested a traffic signal at intersection of Ewing Avenue and Fellows Street. SPECIAL- P91ICE PPILD B20M ( JMKNgJQN_J A Special Police Bond for Mr. J. Zmyslo, employed by Torrington Company, as a Special Police Officer was approved and ordered placed on file. SPECIAL POLICE BOND A Special Police Bond for Danny J. Bloss was approved and ordered placed on file. APPLICATION: FIRE DEPAR T I An application for the Fire Department from LeRoy Harry Skodinski was accepted and ordered placed on file. STREET LIGHT MIME REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:20 A.M.
